I recently had the pleasure of treating a vellum land deed signed by John Quincy Adams. The deed was warped and cockled. A wrinkled paper seal was attached with a rusty pin. After humidifying, stretching and flattening the deed, I reattached the paper seal with archival adhesives. All in all, once flattened, the vellum deed is in much better shape and ready for archival framing.
